Bensergao wastewater treatment by adsorption

Abstract

     Launea arborescens plant from the south–western Morocco was used as an environmentally friendly material for wastewater treatment. This study presents the removal of some cations and oxyanions from Bensergao wastewaters using the dried L. arborescens plant as an environmentally friendly adsorbent. The nitrate and phosphate uptakes increased with the increasing of contact time. The percentage uptake of some heavy metals and oxyanions from Bensergao wastewater by dried L. arborescens plant was >98% for all heavy metals, 96% for NO3- and 70% for PO43- ions.
