Purification and characterisation of the antifungal

and antibacterial compounds produced by the yeast Torulaspora delbruckii, associated

with the clam Venerupis decussata

Abstract

     Succinic acid and deoxycholic acid were identified as antibiotic substances produced by the clam-associated yeast Torulaspora delbruckii. Our study is the first report of the antifungal and antibacterial activities of 1,4- butanedioic acid, toward pathogenic and ichtyopathogenic strains. We have also shown the antibacterial activity of deoxycholic acid against Staphylococcus aureus.
