A local preconditioning for non-equilibrium reactive flows

Abstract

An algorithm for the simulation of chemically reacting non-equilibrium flows at low Mach number is developed. The method presented here is a generalization of Roe's solver with diagonal Turkel preconditioner to reactive multi-species flows. It is combined with an implicit solution of the species source terms to overcome stiffness problems. To ensure time consistency for transient problems, a semi-implicit dual time-stepping method is applied. The performance of the solver is illustrated by some test computations.
