Effect of the local defects on optical proprieties

of one-dimensional photonic crystals

Abstract

     There are several types of defects causing a disturbance of the periodicity of the photonic crystals.  This disturbance can touch the total system or the layers (point defects) by generating significant effects within the band gap.

     In our work, we will be interested in the study of the effects caused by the specific defects introduced on the level of the layers into a one-dimensional periodic system of type H(BH) J  where H and B are respectively dielectric layers with high and low indices, J being the period of pair HB.  The spectra of the reflexion or of transmission optics obtained and represented in 2D or in 3D are discussed in relation to the site, the number and the type of the introduced defects.
