OF (La1-yPry)0.9K0.1MnO3 PEROVSKITE MANGANITES

Abstract

We studied the structural and electrical properties of the perovskite manganite oxides
(La1-yPry)0.9K0.1MnO3 with y = 0.2, 1/3, 0.5, 2/3 and 0.8. The Mn4+/Mn3+ ratio is fixed while the average ionic radius of the A cation site <rA> was systematically varied. X-ray diffraction patterns showed a structural transition from rhombohedral to orthorhombic. With increasing praseodymium content, <rA> decreases and so consequently the unit cell volume does. Electrical measurements showed that all samples exhibited a semiconductor behavior in the whole temperature range 50-300K.
