(Solid + liquid) equilibria in (anthracene and 1.3.5.7-tetramethyl 2.4.6.8.9.10-hexathia-adamantane)

Abstract

Experimental phase diagram of binary system of two big molecules anthracene (ANT) and 1.3.5.7-tetramethyl-2.4.6.8.9.10-hexathiaadamantane (TMHTA) have been studied. The thermal properties of the mixtures and their variation are detected by differential scanning calorimetry. This experimental study shows a simple eutectic system.

A semi-empirical equation of a stoichiometric phase liquidus curve [1-3] was applied to the ANT-TMHTA system, the liquidus was recalculated and the thermodynamic functions characterizing the melting of the pure compound were obtained.

The values of , andrelated to the fusion of TMHTA are 23,9 kJ mol-1, 47,7 J mol-1K-1 and 44,0 J mol-1K-1 respectively at the melting point of 501,4 K.
