Technique for Parameter Estimation in Chemical Processes

Abstract

The exploitation of the data obtained with a reaction calorimeter is based on the calculation of the heat production rate using a thermal model of the process.

In this paper, a restoration technique is proposed for the estimation of time-varying parameters such as the heat reaction rate in a chemical process, this technique is based on optimal control theory. The performances of the proposed technique are illustrated through the estimation of the heat reaction rate of the acetic anhydride hydrolysis in a calorimeter.
