Addition of Dihalocarbenes to Allylpulegols

Abstract

Dihalocarbene reactions, using phase transfer catalysis conditions (liquid-liquid and solid-liquid), with allylpulegols 2-5, are regioselective and stereospecific. The regioselectivity depends on the substitution of the allylic moieties double bond. Structural assignments are based on infrared spectral data, 1H and 13C NMR spectral studies, and consideration of steric and electronic factors governing the reactions.
