Abstrac

We present a new method for solving the radiative transport equation in cylindrical media. This method uses a moment approximation to treat the angular variable. The set of resulting differential equations are numerically solved by the boundary value problem with finite difference algorithm. The effect of the optical depth on the temperature field in the medium and on the radiative heat flux is then examined for an infinite cylindrical media subject to pure radiative transfer.
