Mössbauer study of amorphous Fe80-xCrxSi8B12 ribbons

Melt spun ribbons of amorphous Fe80-xCrxSi8B12 (x = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12) metallic glasses have been studied by X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectrometry. It is shown that Cr addition and annealing effect influence drastically the magnetic and structural properties. 57Fe Mössbauer spectra for as-synthesized samples and for Fe74Cr6Si8B12 annealed at the temperatures range 573–873K in Ar atmospher for 2h are presented. The observed mean hyperfine field at Fe sites in Fe80-xCrxSi8B12 increases with decreasing chromium content and with increasing annealing temperature.
